South Valley

Heading south of Cusco, there are a number of towns, beautiful landscapes and Inca and pre-Inca archaeological centers that are part of the South Valley. This tour is an alternative off the beaten route, we will pass through the towns of Huasao (Town of chamans), Saylla (Popular for its pork rinds), and Oropesa (Popular for its large “Chuta” breads).

We will visit the terraces of Tipón, one of the largest Inca irrigation works, then we will go to the Pre Inca citadel of Piquillacta, small town or the town of fleas, we will also see the Huacarpay lake and finally we will visit the Church of San Pedro in Andahuaylillas, also known as the Sistine Chapel of America.

We will pick you up at your hotel and after 1 hour we will arrive to the destination. During the tour we will be able to observe crops and beautiful landscapes. The first place to visit will be Tipón, 27 km from the city of Cusco, where we can see the hydraulic system and the advanced irrigation engineering of the Incas, with its perfect fountains and terraces. We will continue towards the pre-Inca citadel of Piquillacta, which was one of the most important administrative and cult centers of the Wari culture between the 6th and 9th centuries, and features the Wari’s planned urbanism par excellence. Finally, we will visit the town of Andahuaylillas, which houses one of the most impressive chapels, the San Pedro Church known as the Sistine Chapel of America, with its beautiful murals of religious art and gold-plated artworks.

-Weather is usually sunny during the day, however we recommend wearing warm clothes for the afternoon and waterproof coats or poncho during the rainy season.
