The Sacred Valley was considered by the Incas as a magical, spiritual and religious environment, as a peaceful place full of agricultural crops, surrounded by impressive landscapes, snow-capped mountains and the Vilcanota River, which is one of the tributaries of the Amazon River.

This valley was highly valued for its particular geographical and climatic qualities. It was one of the main production points due to the richness of its lands and the place where the best grain of corn is produced in Peru. It has an altitude of 2600 to 2800 meters above sea level, therefore the valley has the best climate in the entire Cusco region. In 2006 it was declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

We will visit the archaeological sites of Pisaq, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero; as well as the famous Pisaq Market and the Chinchero textile centers.

We will pick you up in the morning and during the tour we will visit the archaeological sites located along the Sacred Valley.

We will start with the Archaeological Site of Pisaq, located 33 km from the city of Cusco (about 1 hour and 20 minutes). This site is surrounded by large agricultural terraces and temples dedicated to the sun and water.

Then we will go to the Pisaq Market, which is a clear evidence of the living culture and where you will have the opportunity to walk through its colonial streets and buy handicrafts made by its inhabitants.

We will stop in Urubamba, located 1 hour from Pisaq, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch.

After lunch, we will pass through the town of Ollantaytambo, known as the last living Inca city, where we will be able to admire the Inca buildings inhabited by the settlers. We will visit the Archaeological Site of Ollantaytambo, which was an Inca citadel with an impressive Temple of the Sun and with a strategic location as a place of control and gateway to the jungle region. It offers a magnificent view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

To end our tour we will visit Chinchero, the last place of residence of the Inca Tupac Yupanqui, which is surrounded by impressive agricultural terraces and where a temple was built in 1572 in honor of the Virgin of the Nativity.

Finally we will learn the process of the textiles performed by the inhabitants of Chinchero.
