The Sacred Valley of the Incas has plenty of archaeological monuments, beautiful landscapes and indigenous communities. In this tour you will be able to learn about the extraction process of the Salt of Maras, which is very popular and highly rated because it contains minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and copper, besides the sodium chloride.

You will also visit the archaeological site of Moray, used by the Incas as an agricultural research center and characterized by its circular terraces with different microclimates.

We will drive approximately 1 hour to the Salt Mines of Maras. On the route we can make a stop to have a beautiful view of the Vilcanota Mountain Range and its majestic snow-capped mountains. The Salt Mines of Maras are made up of about 3000 salt ponds, where the water comes from the subsoil and due to the evaporation process it forms a layer of salt that is used for human consumption. Maras salt is highly valued as it is richer in minerals.

We will make a brief stop in the colonial town of Maras to take photos of its church and picturesque streets. Then we will continue the journey to Moray, which was an experimental center for agriculture and where around 3,000 thousand varieties of potatoes and 50 varieties of corn were developed. Thanks to its 12 agricultural terraces at different levels, each one originated a different type of microclimate. On the way back we will stop in the town of Chinchero, where we will visit a textile center and meet the local inhabitants, who still use the traditional Inca process of natural dyeing and weaving.
